„The Tan will fade, but the memories will last forever“

Um ehrlich zu sein, stand Ägypten nie wirklich groß auf meiner Travelliste, da man die letzten Jahre einfach oft mehr Negatives als Positives zu hören bekommen hat und Ägypten somit bei mir eher in Vergessenheit geriet. Da ich aber gerne offen für Neues bin und mir einen Urlaub mit meiner besten Freundin nicht entgehen lassen wollte, ging es letzte Woche für 7 Nächte mit ETI nach Ägypten, und meine Ansicht hat sich vollkommen geändert.

To be honest, Egypt was never really big on my travel list, because the last few years you have often heard more negative than positive things and Egypt was therefore rather forgotten by me. But since I like to be open for new things and didn’t want to miss a holiday with my best friend, I went to Egypt last week for 7 nights with ETI, and my opinion changed completely.

An-/ Abreise

Nach einem ca. 4 stündigen Flug sind wir auch schon in Marsa Alam gelandet, wurden dort von ETI empfangen und mit dem Transfer ins 15 Minuten entfernte Hotel „The Palace Port Ghalib“ gebracht. Die Anreise verlief wirklich reibungslos und wir waren wie im Flug im Paradies angekommen.

Bei der Heimreise hatte unser Flieger leider ca. 5 Stunden Verspätung, was aber nicht an ETI, sondern an der Airline selbst lag. Nach einer etwas längeren Abreise kamen wir aber dennoch gut wieder in Wien an.

Arrival/Departure
After a 4 hour flight we landed in Marsa Alam, where we were welcomed by ETI and brought to the hotel „The Palace Port Ghalib“ 15 minutes away. The journey went really smoothly and we arrived in paradise in a second.

On our way home our flight was unfortunately delayed for about 5 hours, which was not due to ETI, but to the airline itself. After a longer departure we arrived in Vienna again.

Das Hotel The Palace Port Ghalib*****

Da wir erst am Abend angekommen sind, konnten wir das Hotel erst so richtig am nächsten Tag betrachten und es ist riesig. Ich war etwas überwältigt, für mich persönlich gab es im Hotel alles, was mein Herz begehrte. Was ich gleich dazusagen möchte ist, dass es im Hotel nur im Lobbybereich und beim Pool gratis W-Lan gibt. Weiter unten in den Tipps erzähle ich euch davon mehr. 🙂

The Hotel: The Palace Port Ghalib*****
Since we arrived in the evening, we could only really see the hotel the next day and it is huge. I was a bit overwhelmed, for me personally there was everything my heart desired in the hotel. What I would like to say right away is that in the hotel there is only free WiFi in the lobby area and at the pool. Further down in the tips I’ll tell you more about it. 🙂

Zimmer:****
Das Zimmer bestand aus einem großen Doppelbett, einer Dusche, Badewanne, offenem Waschbecken, TV, und Terrasse.
Es war auch wirklich sauber und wurde täglich gereinigt, ebenso wurden die Wasserflaschen immer wieder aufgefüllt. Bei Extrawünsche konnte man diese bei der Rezeption (wir haben z.B. eine weitere Flasche Wasser bestellt) melden.
An manchen Ecken hat man bemerkt, dass das Zimmer nicht mehr ganz neu ist, aber wenn man bedenkt wie lange es dieses schon gibt war alles tip top und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Room. ****
The room consisted of a large double bed, a shower, bathtub, sink, TV, and terrace.
It was really clean and was cleaned daily, and the water bottles were refilled over and over again. If you had any special requests, you could report them to the reception (e.g. we ordered another bottle of water). At some corners one noticed that the room is not completely new anymore, but if one considers how long this hotel has been there already, everything was tip top and we felt very comfortable.

Personal: *****
Bereits als wir im Hotel angekommen sind, wurden wir sehr freundlich empfangen. Generell muss ich hier 5 Sternchen + angeben, jeder war einfach unglaublich nett, hilfsbereit und trotz mancher schwierigen Verständigung, wurde der Wunsch des Gastes immer erfüllt und dazu gabs sogar immer noch ein Lächeln, anstatt grimmiger Gesichter.

Staff: *****
Already when we arrived at the hotel, we were welcomed very friendly. In general I have to state 5 stars +, everyone was incredibly nice, helpful and despite some difficulty with the communication, the guest’s wish was always fulfilled and there was even a smile instead of grim faces.

Lage: *****
Ich glaube ich hatte noch nie eine so perfekte Lage bei einem Hotel. Wir waren direkt beim privaten Strand, mussten 5min bis zur nächsten Einkaufsmöglichkeit gehen und hatten einfach alles was wir brauchen in wenigen Gehminuten um uns.

Location: *****
I don’t think I’ve ever had such a perfect location at a hotel before. We were directly at the private beach, had to walk 5min to the next shopping possibility and had everything we need in a few minutes walking distance around us.

Preis:*****
Wie bereits erwähnt war ich diesmal mit ETI in Ägypten und durfte den Urlaub quasi für euch testen. Grundsätzlich bewegt sich der All-Inclusive Preis aber zwischen 500-900€, was ich unglaublich günstig für dieses Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis finde.

As already mentioned I was with ETI in Egypt this time and was allowed to test the vacation for you. Basically, the all-inclusive price is between 500-900€, which I find incredibly cheap for this price-performance ratio.

Angebot*****
Wo soll ich anfangen. Also wir waren insgesamt 7 Nächte dort und haben lange nicht alles gesehen, was die Anlage und Ägypten generell zu bieten hat.

Ausflüge:
- Schnorcheln: Am Freitag fuhren wir mit einem Boot zum Schnorcheln, hier sind wir ca. 20min aufs Meer gefahren und haben 2 Spots besucht, mit jeweils 45min Schnorchelgängen. Beim 2. Schnorchelgang konnte man sogar Schildkröten sehen und es war ein kleines unvergessliches Erlebnis.
- Safari: Am Mittwoch sind wir zuerst in die Wüste gefahren um dort mit Quads rumzudüsen, anschließend haben wir noch ein Beduinen-Dorf besucht und uns den Sonnenuntergang auf einem Hügel mitten in der Wüste angeschaut. -wow

Hotel:
- Schnorcheln: Um Schnorcheln zu können musste man gar nicht weit wegfahren, denn das Hotel hat ein eigenes kleines Riff quasi vor der Türe. Hier kann man in einem abgegrenzten Bereich frei Schnorcheln. Als kleine Info: was ich wirklich toll finde ist, dass die Korallenriffe abgegrenzt sind und man somit nicht direkt dort Schnorcheln kann und diese somit nicht von Touristen zerstört werden.
- Tennisplatz
- Gym: Natürlich habe ich auch das hauseigene Gym ausprobiert, es ist zwar ziemlich klein, aber man kann sich trotzdem sehr gut austoben.
- Minigolf
- Spa
- Frisör
- Beachvolleyballplatz
- Poolbereich: Der Poolbereich befindet sich direkt beim Hotel und es gibt einen großen, normalen Pool in Richtung Strand und einen sehr großen Salzwasserpool auf der anderen Seite.
- Privatstrand: Den Großteil unserer Zeit haben wir aber am Strand verbracht, klares sauberes Wasser, ein wirklich sauberer Strand, nicht zu überfüllt. Es gibt Bars an denen man mit seinen All-Inclusive Bändchen fast alles gratis bekommt, einen Steg, der direkt zum Schnorcheln führt und vor allem einen unglaublichen Ausblick raus aufs Meer, vor allem bei Sonnenaufgang und Sonnenuntergang
- …
Einkaufen: Wie bereits erwähnt, sind Einkaufsmöglichkeiten wenige Gehminuten vom Hotel entfernt, dort gibt es ebenso Restaurants und Bars.
Essen: Es gibt 3x am Tag ein Buffet, wobei dieses am Abend immer nach einem Bestimmten Thema ausgerichtet ist (z.B.: Orientalische-, Mediterrane-, Internationale-Nacht…) Das Essen war wirklich, wirklich lecker und vor allem der Hummus und die Datteln waren einfach ein Traum (müsst ihr unbedingt probieren, auch als Kombo- Vorsicht: Suchtgefahr! haha). Ebenso gibt es vegane und vegetarische Varianten und man kann immer auf Wunsch noch etwas bestellen, aber beim Buffet steht einem sowieso alles offen 🙂

Where do you want me to start? So we were there for 7 nights and haven’t seen everything the complex and Egypt has to offer in general.

Excursions:
- Snorkeling: On Friday we went with a boat to go snorkeling, here we drove approx. 20min on the sea and have visited 2 spots, with 45min time each to snorkel. With the 2nd snorkel course one could even see turtles and it was an unforgettable experience.
- Safari: On Wednesday we first drove into the desert to speed around with Quads, afterwards we visited a Bedouin village and watched the sunset on a hill in the middle of the desert. -wow
Hotel:
- Snorkeling: In order to be able to snorkel, one did not have to drive far away, as the hotel has its own small reef practically in front of the door. Here, one can snorkel freely in a limited area. As a little information: what I really like is that the coral reefs are delimited and thus one cannot snorkel directly there and thus they are not destroyed by tourists.
- Tennis court
- Gym: Of course I have also tried the in-house gym, it is quite small, but you can still let off steam very well.
- Minigolf
- Spa
- Hairdresser
- Beach volleyball court
- Pool area: The pool area is right next to the hotel and there is a large, normal pool towards the beach and a very large saltwater pool on the other side.
- Private beach: But most of our time we spent on the beach, clear clean water, a really clean beach, not too crowded. There are bars where you can get almost everything for free with all-inclusive ribbons, a bridge that leads directly to snorkeling and above all an incredible view out to sea, especially at sunrise and sunset.

Shopping: As already mentioned, shopping facilities are only a few minutes walking distance away from the hotel, there are also restaurants and bars.
Food: There is 3x a day a buffet, whereby this is always aligned in the evening after a certain topic (e.g.: Oriental, Mediterranean, International night…) The food was really, really delicious and above all the hummus and the dates were simply a dream (you must absolutely try it, also as a combo, caution: addiction danger! haha). There are also vegan and vegetarian variations and you can always order something on request, but at the buffet everything is available anyway. 🙂

Tipps & Co

Internet: Gleich mal eines der heutzutage wichtigsten Themen – das Internet. :b Wie bereits erwähnt gibt es im Hotel gratis W-Lan nur im Lobbybereich und direkt beim Pool. Man kann sich aber direkt beim Flughafen eine Simkarte kaufen. Wir haben uns von Orange eine Simkarte um 8€ mit 16GB gekauft. Grundsätzlich sind wir damit gut klargekommen, nur war der Empfang im Hotel oft sehr schlecht. Hier wurde uns empfohlen besser eine Simkarte von Vodafone zu kaufen, diese soll angeblich schneller funktionieren. 🙂
Essen: Ich glaube so ziemlich wie jeden hat es mich in Ägypten etwas mit dem Essen erwischt und ich hatte 2 Tage Durchfall. Generell sollte man hier schon etwas drauf achten was man isst. Am besten nur Wasser aus der Flasche und Obst und Gemüse ohne Schale besser meiden. (zB: Tomaten, Salat, Gurke mit Schale,…) Ich hab wirklich gar nicht darauf geachtet und weiß auch nicht woran es lag oder ob ich etwas nicht vertragen habe. Aber alles in allem ist das Essen super lecker und die Auswahl riesig. 🙂
Währung: Man muss nicht zwingend sein Geld wechseln, da man fast überall schon mit Euro oder Dollar bezahlen kann. Einen Bankomaten gibt es auch direkt im Hotel. 🙂
Trinkgeld: Es empfiehlt sich auch dem Servicepersonal ein kleines Trinkgeld zu geben, da diese nur sehr wenig verdienen und man dadurch aber auch als Gast noch schneller bedient wird. 😉
Impfung: Es sind keine bestimmten Impfungen nötig. Aber ansonsten erkundige dich einfach online nochmal oder auf ETI.AT 🙂

Tips & Co

Internet: One of the most important topics nowadays – the Internet. :b As already mentioned there is free WiFi in the hotel only in the lobby area and directly by the pool. But you can buy a sim card directly at the airport. We bought a sim card from Orange for 8€ with 16GB. Basically, we got along well with it, but the reception in the hotel was often very bad. Here we were recommended to buy a sim card from Vodafone, which is supposed to work faster. 🙂
Food: I think pretty much like everybody in Egypt, it caught me with the food and I had 2 days of diarrhea. Generally one should pay attention here on what one eats. Best only water from the bottle and fruit and vegetables without peel are better avoided. (e.g.: tomatoes, salad, cucumber with peel,…) I really didn’t pay attention to it and don’t know why it was or if my stomach didn’t tolerate something. But all in all the food is super delicious and the selection is huge. 🙂
Currency: You don’t have to exchange your money, because you can pay almost everywhere with Euro or Dollar. There is also an ATM directly in the hotel. 🙂
