Eines der Dinge, worauf ich bei anderen Menschen zuerst schaue, sind die Zähne. Umso wichtiger ist es mir, selbst auch schöne Zähne zu haben. Schon als Kind, nachdem meine Milchzähne ausgefallen sind und die zweiten Zähne gekommen sind war ich immer etwas unzufrieden. Meine zweiten Zähne waren von Anfang an ziemlich klein und rund.

Ich habe es regelrecht gehasst mit offenem Mund zu lachen, also gibt es wirklich kaum Fotos von mir wo man mich mit Zähnen lächeln sieht. Nie hätte ich gedacht, dass sich das einmal ändern wird.

Natürlich ist man selber immer etwas kritischer mit sich selbst und anderen wäre das vielleicht auch gar nicht aufgefallen. Dennoch wollte ich mich einfach selber wohl fühlen, egal was andere sagen.
Zwei meiner Geschwister hatten eine Zahnspange, ein Großteil die ich kenne hatten oder haben eine Zahnspange. Leider hätte eine Zahnspange bei mir nichts gebracht, also habe ich mich mal etwas umgehört, eingelesen und bin schließlich auf die Webseite meines eigenen Zahnarztes gekommen. Mittlerweile bin ich schon einige Jahre bei den Zahnärzten am Stadtpark und bis jetzt super zufrieden. Auf der Homepage gab es einen sehr ausführlichen Artikel zum sogenannten „Smile Makeover“, also habe ich mir im Sommer 2019 gleich meinen ersten Beratungstermin ausgemacht.

Dort haben wir erstmal über mein „Problem“ gesprochen, was ich ändern möchte, inwiefern so etwas möglich ist, etc.
Bei meinem 2. Termin 2019 habe ich zum ersten Mal ein Provisorium bekommen. Dort wurden damals die perfekten Maße meiner Zähne per Computer ausgerechnet und das Provisorium angefertigt. Danach hatte ich dieses 1-2 Tage drinnen und konnte das erste Mal sehen wie das ganze aussehen würde. Ich habe natürlich viele Fotos gemacht und mir erstmal ein paar Monate Gedanken darüber gemacht. Nach viel Überlegungszeit (da das ganze natürlich nicht ganz billig ist und doch eine Veränderung ist) bin ich 2020 wieder zum Zahnarzt und habe ihm mitgeteilt, was mir bei dem ersten Entwurf noch nicht 100% gefallen hat und was ich anders haben möchte. Also hatte ich im Sommer 2020 noch einen Termin und wir haben das überarbeitete Provisorium wieder draufgemacht. Das Ganze war nur zur Veranschaulichung und hat die eigenen Zähne natürlich nicht angegriffen und ist nach 1-2 Tagen von alleine wieder runtergefallen. Danach folgten wieder einige Wochen an Überlegungszeit und wir haben uns schlussendlich einen Termin ausgemacht, da ich das ganze JETZT wirklich machen wollte. Ich hatte noch ein paar Änderungswünsche, diese wurden dann natürlich noch umgesetzt und ich konnte ab da den richtigen Termin kaum mehr erwarten.

Mein 1. Termin:
An meinem ersten Termin wurden die Zähne abgeschliffen und ich habe von Montag bis Freitag ein Provisorium auf die Zähne bekommen. Das Provisorium hat sich etwas unangenehm angefühlt, da es sich die ganze Zeit angefühlt hat, als hätte ich falsche Zähne im Mund. Hier wurde mir vom Arzt empfohlen bis zum 2. Termin eher weiche Speisen zu mir zu nehmen, da es sonst sein könnte das etwas bricht. Außerdem kann sich das Provisorium, da es aus Plastik besteht verfärben. Das war bei mir der Fall 😀 Ich war so schlau und habe Curry mit ganz viel Kurkuma gegessen… naja, danach waren meine Zähne 3 Tage lang Neon gelb haha.
Der erste Termin hat ca. 2h gedauert. Hier haben wir alles auch nochmal genau besprochen was passiert und wie das ganze abläuft.

Mein 2. Termin: 
An meinem 2. Termin habe ich zuerst wieder eine Spritze bekommen, damit ich nichts spüre und das Provisorium herausbekommen. Danach wurde mir jeder Zahn/Veneer einzeln eingesetzt. Dies hat ca. 2,5h gedauert. Das einzige, das hier etwas unangenehm war, war das lange offenhalten des Mundes. Ansonsten tat nichts weh. Weitere Antworten findest du unten im Q&A 🙂

Die Praxis

Die Zahnärzte am Stadtpark befinden sich im 3. Bezirk in Wien. Genauergesagt in der Salesianergasse 4/3.

Die Praxis selber ist sehr gut aufgeteilt, es befinden sich ein Team von Zahnärzten die seit vielen Jahren in ihren jeweiligen Fachgebieten spezialisiert sind und ebenso en Team  super netter Zahnarzthelferinnen.
Es ist sehr sauber, jeder ist unglaublich nett und sie wissen was sie machen -man ist somit in sehr guten Händen.

Q&A

Einige Fragen die ihr mir gestellt habt:

1.Warum hast du es gemacht ?
Wie bereits oben kurz beschrieben, sind mir persönlich Zähne und ein schönes Lächeln sehr wichtig. Leider aber hatte ich schon immer sehr ( in proportion zu meinem Gesicht) kleine Zähne die sehr abgerundet waren.
Dies hat mich eigentlich schon immer etwas gestört und nach langem überlegen habe ich beschlossen, dies zu ändern.

2.Hattest du schmerzen?
Jain. Von einer Skala von 1-10 würde ich sagen kurz nach dem ersten und zweiten Termin 6, am Tag danach 2. Der „Eingriff“ und die Zähne an sich haben nicht weh getan, da ich aber ein sehr empfindliches Zahnfleisch habe war das danach und die ersten Tage etwas beleidigt. Dies ist aber auch sehr schnell verheilt und es hat sich definitiv gelohnt.
Während dem Eingriff selber bekommt man eine Spritze, also spürt man nichts. Das Einzige, das etwas unangenehm war, war das lange Offenhalten des Mundes haha 🙂

3.Wie war das essen danach, konntest du etwas nicht essen?
Ich konnte nach dem ersten Termin ( wo ich das Provisorium bekommen habe) und nach dem 2. Termin ( wo ich die richtigen Veneers bekommen habe) eigentlich alles sofort essen. Nur beim Provisorium musste ich etwas aufpassen, nichts zu hartes zu essen, da dieses brechen könnte. Das Provisorium hatte ich von Montag-Freitag.

4.Fühlst du einen Unterschied zwischen Provisorium und den echten Veneers?
Ja. Das Provisorium bekommt man wirklich nur, damit nach dem ersten Termin die abgeschliffenen Zähne geschützt sind und man. Das hat sich aber etwas wie Halloween Zähne angefühlt. Sobald ich wo abgebissen oder gekaut wurde, habe ich nicht gespürt, wo die Zähne anfangen und wo sie enden. Jetzt mit den Veneers fühle ich keinen Unterschied zu meinen echten Zähnen. Bzw. es fühlt sich an, als hätte ich diese schon immer gehabt.

5.Wie lange hat es bei dir zum heilen gedauert?
Da mein Zahnfleisch sehr empfindlich ist, hat es bei mir ca 1 Woche gedauert, bis alles wieder normal war. In der Regel dauert das aber 2-3 Tage 🙂

Fragen an den Zahnarzt

1.Aus welchem Material bestehen die neuen Zähne?
Veneers sind dünne Keramikplättchen die von vorne auf den Zahn geklebt werden

2.Aus was besteht das Provisorium ?
Aus einem Plastik/Kunststoffmaterial

3.Wie lange halten die Veneers?
Bei guter Zahnpflege ist die Versorgung so geplant, dass sie wie die eigenen Zähne halten. Also so gesagt für immer 🙂

4.Wieviel wird von den echten Zähnen weggeschliffen?
Es wird nur die oberste Schicht abgeschliffen, also nur an der Vorderfläche. Zirka 0,5-1mm Zahnsubstanz

5.Wieviel kostet so etwas?
Nan kann mit zirka 1000 Euro pro Zahn rechnen.

6.Deckt die Versicherung diese Kosten, bzw in welchem Fall würde sie diese decken?
Nein, in keinem Fall übernimmt das die Versicherung. Das ganze ist selbst zu bezahlen.

7.Wohin bekommt man die Spritzen und warum?
Wenn man am Zahnfleisch arbeitet und eine dünne Schicht vom Zahnschmelz entfernt kann das sehr unangenehm sein. Deshalb bekommt man die Spritze, damit man keine Schmerzen hat. Diese kommt ins umliegende Zahnfleisch

8.Wieviele Termine braucht man bis man das Endergebnis hat?
Nach der Planung und der Visualisierung (Mock up) braucht man nur 2 Termine um die Veneers im Mund zu haben!

9.Wie ist der genaue Ablauf der Termine, bzw. Was genau wird Schritt für Schritt gemacht?

10.Können sich die Veneers wie normale zähne verfärben? (zB übermäßiger Kaffee Konsum etc.)
Nein, da sich die Keramik nicht wie der eigenen Zahn verfärben kann

11.Kann man auf den Veneers noch Karies bekommen?
Bei schlechter Zahnpflege kann zb von innen (Wo der eigene Zahn ist und nicht das Veneer) Karies auftreten. Im Extremfall könnte die Karies so groß sein, dass man das Veneer entfernen muss um eine Wurzelbehandlung zu machen. Danach müsste man den Zahn mit einer Krone versorgen. Deswegen ist auch die Normale Zahnpflege immer noch wichtig!

 One of the things I look at first in other people is their teeth. That makes it all the more important for me to have beautiful teeth myself. Even as a child, after my milk teeth fell out and the second teeth came, I was always a little dissatisfied. My second teeth were quite small and round from the beginning.

I really hated to laugh with my mouth open, so there are really hardly any photos of me where you can see me smiling with teeth. I never thought that this would change.

Of course you are always a bit more critical with yourself and with others, maybe you wouldn’t have noticed. Nevertheless I just wanted to feel good about myself, no matter what others say.

Two of my siblings had braces, most of the people I know had or have braces. Unfortunately, braces wouldn’t have worked for me, so I did some research, read up on the subject and finally came across the website of my own dentist. Meanwhile I have been at the dentists at Stadtpark for several years and so far I am very satisfied. On the homepage there was a very detailed article about the so-called „Smile Makeover“, so I made my first consultation appointment in summer 2019.

There we first talked about my „problem“, what I want to change, how this is possible, etc.

At my 2nd appointment in 2019 I got a temporary solution for the first time. At that time, the perfect dimensions of my teeth were calculated by computer and the temporary restoration was made. After that I had them inside for one or two days and could see for the first time how it would look like. Of course I took a lot of pictures and thought about it for a few months. After a lot of time to think about it (because the whole thing is not cheap and yet it is a change) I went back to the dentist in 2020 and told him what I didn’t like 100% in the first draft and what I would like to have differently. So I had another appointment in summer 2020 and we put the reworked temporary denture back on. The whole thing was just for illustration and of course it didn’t affect my own teeth and fell off by itself after 1-2 days. After that I had a few more weeks to think about it and I finally made an appointment because I really wanted to do the whole thing NOW. I still had a few change requests, which were then of course implemented and I could hardly wait for the right date from then on.

My first appointment:
On my first appointment the teeth were ground down and I got a temporary denture on my teeth from Monday to Friday. The temporary felt a bit uncomfortable because it felt like I had false teeth in my mouth all the time. The doctor recommended that I eat soft food until the 2nd appointment, otherwise it might break. Also the temporary denture can discolor, because it is made of plastic. That was the case with me 😀 I was so smart and ate curry with a lot of turmeric… well, afterwards my teeth were neon yellow haha for 3 days.

The first appointment took about 2 hours. Here we discussed everything again exactly what happens and how it all works.

My second appointment:
At my 2nd appointment I got an injection again so that I didn’t feel anything and got the temporary veneers out. Afterwards I had each tooth/veneer inserted individually. This took about 2.5 hours. The only thing that was a bit unpleasant here was keeping the mouth open for a long time. Apart from that nothing else hurt. You can find more answers in the Q&A below 🙂

Q&A

Some questions you asked me:

1.why did you do it?
As briefly described above, teeth and a beautiful smile are very important to me personally. Unfortunately, I have always had very small teeth (in proportion to my face), which were very rounded.

This has actually always bothered me a bit and after much consideration I decided to change this.

2.did you have pain?
Well, from a scale of 1-10 I would say 6 shortly after the first and second appointment, the day after 2. The „procedure“ and the teeth themselves didn’t hurt, but since I have very sensitive gums they were a bit offended afterwards and the first days. But this healed very quickly and it was definitely worth it.

During the procedure itself you get an injection, so you don’t feel anything. The only thing that was a bit uncomfortable was keeping the mouth open for a long time haha 🙂

3.how was eating afterwards, could you not eat something?
After the first appointment (where I got the temporary) and after the 2nd appointment (where I got the real veneers) I could actually eat everything immediately. Only with the temporary I had to be careful not to eat anything too hard because they could break. I had the temporary ones from Monday to Friday.

 4.do you feel a difference between the temporary and the real veneers?
Yes, you only get a temporary denture to protect the ground teeth after the first appointment. But that felt a bit like Halloween teeth. As soon as I chewed or bit something, I couldn’t feel where the teeth started and where they ended. Now with the veneers I can’t feel any difference to my real teeth, it feels as if I have always had them.

5.how long did it take you to heal?
Since my gums are very sensitive, it took about 1 week until everything was back to normal. But usually it takes 2-3 days 🙂

Questions to the dentist

1.what material are the new teeth made of?
Veneers are thin ceramic plates, which are glued to the tooth from the front

2.what is the temporary denture made of?
From a plastic material

3.how long do the veneers last?
With good dental care, the restoration is planned to last as long as your own teeth. In other words, forever 🙂

4.how much of the real teeth is grinded away?
Only the top layer is ground off, so only the front surface. Approximately 0,5-1mm tooth substance

5.how much does something like this cost?
You can calculate with about 1000 Euro per tooth.

 6.does the insurance cover these costs, or in which case would it cover them?
No, in no case the insurance company will cover them. You have to pay for the whole thing yourself.

7.where do you get the injections and why?
If you work on the gums and remove a thin layer of enamel, it can be very unpleasant. That is why you get the injection so that you do not have any pain. It goes into the surrounding gums

 8.how many appointments do you need until you have the final result?
After the planning and the visualization (mock up) you only need 2 appointments to have the veneers in your mouth!

 9.what is the exact schedule of the appointments, or what exactly is done step by step?

No, because the ceramic cannot discolor like your own teeth

11. can one still get caries on the veneers?

In case of poor dental care, caries can occur from the inside (where the own tooth is and not the veneer). In extreme cases, the caries could be so severe that the veneer has to be removed in order to perform a root canal treatment. Afterwards the tooth would have to be crowned. Therefore, normal dental care is still important!
